Check out the Smoky Mountain, hike the Rainbow falls trail up to Mt LeConte. The hike took about 6 hours and you’ll go up in 4,000 ft… Ansel Adam was hooked at this place and took endless amount of photos there. You may also want to visit the Devils Postpile since that’s close by..this formation is a fascinating piece of geology columnar basalt). Consider taking a several day trip so you can also go fishing in Mammoth lakes… visit mono lake (it’s incredible!).. and definitely go soak in the natural hot springs!
Another great hike/camping is the grand canyon but make sure to check on thunder storm season because we found ourselves in a bad sand/thunder storms during the middle of our hike.
When you get a chance you should take a trip to Nicaragua and check out Isla de Ometepe. I hiked up Volcan Madera, and I would say that it was one of the most beautiful hikes ever. It’s a gorgeous hike through plenty of lush plantation and rainforest environment. The views are amazing, make sure you pack a light lunch and a wind breaker. As you get closer to reaching the crater, it gets a bit chilly. The hike took about 6 hours total (4 up and 2 to get down). It’s about 4,500 ft up to the gorgeous crater. Be sure to get a guide because the trails are really off the beaten path, and a few tourist has been lost.
